St. Ann School shares in the mission of the Catholic Church and our Christian families and will provide a religious and academic education to prepare students to be responsible members of families, church, and community.

Motto for Life

I will do the right thing today even if I don't feel like it.
I will treat people right today even if I don't feel like it.
Today I will remember my will power is stronger than how I feel or what I think.
Everyone counts and every day matters at St. Ann Catholic School.
All things are possible today!

Principal Notes:

This year, I will only be doing a "monthly" newsletter. I feel there are many things going on in family lives and being able to read a weekly newsletter may add extra work you don't have time to complete. I realize there may be events happening on a daily basis throughout the month which may not be listed in this newsletter. I will continue to communicate daily through our school's webpage and Fast Direct.

The new school year has begun wonderfully! The teachers have established their routines and the students are adapting very well to them. I want to thank all parents for the support you have given thus far to all school staff. St. Ann School has the best students, supportive staff and the presence of God each and every day.

Our Student/Parent Handbook is located on our school's website. There is a form at the end of the document that you should have already printed, signed, and returned to school indicating you have read the handbook. If you have not done this, please take care of this as soon as possible. If you have a question throughout the school year, please review the handbook first. If it does not answer your question, please do not hesitate to call the office at 389-1898. We are still needing parent packets returned to the office. We need to update our records. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Parent E-Newsletter

Sign up by sending an email address to gail. ciecorka@st-ann.com. It is very important that I have all email addresses. I communicate a lot with parents through emails. If you do not have access to a computer in your home, you could check your email at a friend's or relative's house or through the public library.

Car Riders

When picking your car rider up from school in the afternoon, PLEASE…pick up your children in the line. No one should be waiting or parking in the area across from the school building and having your child crossing the street while the staff is loading cars. When arriving to the parking area in the church parking lot, you should get behind the last car in line. If a car is moving to pick up children, you SHOULD NOT cut in line. We appreciate those who are following the rules in the afternoon. We have to keep our students safe at all times.

Trash Bag Sales In Full Swing

PTO kicked off the trash bag sales on Tuesday, August 25. Proceeds from the trash bag sales are very important to St. Ann School. All proceeds from the trash bag sales will go directly back into the school to help fund many valuable projects going on this school year. All trash bag orders and payments are due into the office by Wednesday, September 9th.

Cafeteria Reminder

Please review your child's pin number with them daily before they leave for school. Their pin number is the last 4 numbers in their Social Security number. Our monthly lunch menu is on our website under the "Lunch Menu" link. If you are a cafeteria volunteer, please check the "Cafeteria Volunteer" link to see what date you are working. We thank all volunteers who help with this service. It is very challenging for one person to monitor the students as well as wipe tables. If you would like to become a cafeteria volunteer, please call Ruth Ann Collins.

Substitute Teachers

Do you have 60 plus college credit hours? Are you interested in a rewarding experience with young people? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of our young students? If so, have you considered substitute teaching? We are in need of qualified men and women who would like to give of their time and talent to this ministry. If interested, please stop by the school office or go to our website at www.st-ann.com to access an application.

Volunteers Needed

Wanted: Grandparents, neighbors, friends…St. Ann School is always searching for volunteers who are willing to give of their time and talent to enrich the lives of our many students and teachers. If you have a special talent you would like to share with us; please let us know. If you can give your time during the week, please let us know. Our teachers appreciate the many duties volunteers do for them during the school year.

Safe Environment

Safe Environment Requirements: All employees and all volunteers who serve, as "chaperones" for school events such as field trips, and field day and all volunteers who work in the cafeteria and in classrooms are required to:
  • Complete Safe Environment Training-every 5 years
  • Complete background check forms-every 5 years
  • Read Summary of Diocesan Sexual policy
  • Read and sign Supervisory Adult Code of Conduct

Overseas Coupon Program

Janet Gill is collecting coupons, both food and non-food, and is sending them to the US Navy base at Sigonella, Sicily. Restaurant, milk, and bread coupons are not accepted but basically anything else we can buy here at the grocery or discount store-food, health and beauty, pet, and household items can be sent. Before mailing the coupons have to be trimmed and sorted by food and non-food, because they purchase these items at different places on the base. You can drop coupons off at the church or at the school office for Ms. Gill. Please help our military men and women. This facility was chosen from a list because only 3 other people or groups are sending to Sigonella. In 2008 over 10 million dollars in coupons were sent. To learn more about this project go to ocpnet.org on the web. This project is 17 years old. If anyone has time to help cut please do so, but if not just send in the pages of coupons. Thanks for supporting this project. Since May, Ms. Gill has sent almost $7,000.00 in coupons with the help of parish members. Thanks for supporting this project.

We have after school tutoring for our middle school students on Mondays and Wednesdays. Mrs. Wurth tutors for Language Arts and Mrs. Vowels tutors for Math. If you have any questions regarding after school tutoring, please call the school office. After school tutoring must be teacher recommended; therefore if you have a concern regarding the process, please contact your child's teacher.

The Principal Is Being Arrested

Mrs. Ciecorka is being arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at around 10. A police car will arrive at the school to pick her up. She is being arrested by the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association). Her bail is set for $1,200. If you would like to help this wonderful charity, please visit her website to learn more and to make a donation. https://www.joinmda.org/MyLockup/MyHomepage/tabid/98474/Participant/gailciecorka/Default.aspx You can send or drop off your donation to the school. All donations are tax deductible. Mrs. Ciecorka would greatly appreciate your support.
