Morning Announcements

Good morning students and staff, today is Wednesday, March 10. The Mission Statement for Our School is….St. Ann School shares in the mission of the Catholic Church and our Christian families and will provide a religious and academic education to prepare students to be responsible members of families, church, and community.

The saint for this day is St. Simplicius. Sometimes it seemed to St. Simplicius that he was all alone in trying to correct evils that were everywhere. Conquerors had taken over vast territories. Even Rome itself was occupied by invaders. The people were hungry and poor. They had been taxed and robbed by former Roman officials. Poverty prowled the streets and removed all joy. Pope Simplicius tried in every way to uplift his people and to work for their good. He was always there for them, no matter how small his efforts seemed to him. And because he was holy, he never gave up. More than by words, he taught with the example of his holy life. He had to suffer greatly as pope for another reason as well. Some of his own Christians stubbornly held on to their wrong opinions. Then with great sorrow, he had to put them out of the Church. When he corrected people who were doing wrong, he was kind and humble. He was pope for fifteen years and eleven months. Then the Lord called him to receive the reward of his labors.

Let's begin with the Pledge of Allegiance. Please remain standing after the Pledge of Allegiance for Our Morning Prayer.

I pledge Allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Our Morning Prayer:

Jesus, your sacrificial death on the cross became the tree of life for all who believe. It is the highest expression of love not only for those who bore the nails in your hands and shouted "Crucify, Crucify." It is for all the generations who follow that were born under the sin curse. How grateful we are that you came from the glories of heaven to crush the head of the serpent, as you conquered death through your miraculous resurrection so that we might be redeemed from the law of sin. We will partake of the tree of life in heaven because you partook of the cross of death here on earth. All glory and praise is due your name. Amen

Today in History: In 1862, the first paper money issued in the US; the first telephone message was sent in 1876; the Salvation Army was founded in 1880 and today is Harriet Tubman's birthday. It is time for our lunch menu choices. (To be read from today's menu.). Don't forget any 8th grade girl who wants to try out for the Union County dance team for next year can come by the office and get information about this. 8th Grade boys and girls don't forget to turn in your enrollment card for the high school by this Friday.

Please bow your head for prayer: In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Father, from the time we awaken to the time we lie down we declare that you are worthy to be praised! Your name is exalted far above the earth, your worth much greater than any jewels. Help us not to be people who use the same tongue for cursing and praises. Instead we want to use our tongues for praising you, our Lord and Father, and uplifting those created in your image. Be glorified in our lives so that we bring praise and glory to you this day and each day.

In your name we pray together:

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Have a great day students and staff and remember... God Loves You!
